Mindcore...What is it?
About Mindcore
Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of Mindcore! Mindcore is an aesthetic created by Amyra S. Reyna (AmyraTheDerealizedFox) on November 16th, 2021 as an “alternatecore combination” of multiple different aesthetics. After being rejected from the fandom because it is a “combination”, she decided to compile the aesthetic completely, showing that it, although derived from, is not a combination or imitation of the base aesthetics. Typically, Mindcore tends to root from trauma, mental disorders (such as depression or other depressive/psychological disorders), or a longing for an escape from the real world. Although this tends to lead to issues with derealization– a feeling of not being real, or that the world isn’t real.
History
Mindcore is an aesthetic created by AmyraTheDerealizedFox in November, 2021 as a derivitive of nostalgiacore, dreamcore, weirdcore, and liminalcore (Liminal Spaces). When first created, it was uploaded to the Aesthetics Fandom Wiki (https://aesthetics.fandom.com/) but hastily marked for deletion as an “improper imitation/vandalism” of the aesthetics that Mindcore was derived from. In response, the Official Mindcore Blog was created.
Fashion
The common fashion followed is comprised of one-size-too-big hoodies, sweatpants, beaded bracelets (pastel/fluorescent colors), rainbow bracelets, and simple necklaces (usually with a star or moon emblem or a gemstone). In terms of colors, they tend to be pale, pastel-ish colors or fluorescents.
Art
In regards to the Mindcore art, it tends to take a feverish, mind-trip appearance in its nostalgic yet bright and contrasting design, although this tends to lead to issues with derealization– a feeling of not being real, or that the world isn’t real. It also tends to follow the compressed nature of weirdcore.
Music
Music is a huge component in the Mindcore aesthetic. For an improved experience, you should listen to 90’s – 00’s pop. But not just any pop, it has to be the floaty, airy pop. One– rather two examples of this would be Maroon 5’s “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” and “Songs About Jane” studio albums.
